I know a boy detective who sussed out a secret organization that had been literally, magically erased from all memory. Some of 'em are worth their weight in gold for sure, especially with making connections that might not ordinarily be accessible to a young lady asking too many questions.
I'm iffy on the details of how he found out, but my understanding is that he followed the physical evidence of people who'd been erased. Folks were filing missing person reports, except the one missing was someone they couldn't remember. Like they'd find a jacket in their closet with somebody's name sewed onto it, but no one knows who it belonged to- that sort of thing. Erase a person and it doesn't erase the shit they owned.
[She shrugs her shoulders, expression carefully masked with a smile. It's fine, it's fine. Nothing... personal.]
Anyway, it was a voidfish. Jellyfish from space, you could say. Any information it devoured was erased from the memory of anyone who hadn't drunk the water from its tank. There was an organization concealing memories of folks who'd died.
[Whoa damn okay. She sits her glass down, leaning a little closer.]
That’s absolutely fascinating. Right terrifying, too. Sounds like the sort of creature they’d haul up from the zee. And like something the Masters might do. [There's really no 'might' about it, they've absolutely been concealing memories. No one in the Neath knows those secrets, though. ...No one with a hint of sanity left in them, at least.] Perhaps our worlds have more in common than I thought.
I wouldn't be surprised! More worlds than I care to count had some form of secret underground organization, if not multiple. Whether they're controlling the government or trying to save the world, there's always secrets under the surface.

Magically erased, though! That's quite something. How did he find it? ...For that matter, how had it been erased to begin with?
